The Samsung calls Ottawa firms describe

Ottawa repair firms list the same Samsung faults over and over. Ice makers that stop, French-door fridges cold in the freezer and warm in the fridge, washers that show 4E, 5E or UE, dryers with no heat and dishwashers that leak. A touchscreen or control board fault is the other common one, especially on French-door fridges where the main board runs the fans and the defrost cycle. Say which Samsung it is: the brand covers fridges, washers, dryers, dishwashers and ranges, each with its own fault list. Washers are covered in detail on the washer repair page and the front-load washer page.

Codes are a starting point

A code points at a family of parts. One Ottawa firm reads 4E as a water supply fault and 5E as a drain fault. A returning UE points to suspension or the motor’s hall sensor. On dishwashers, a firm lists leaks from the door gasket, the inlet valve or a hose underneath. On ranges, touch-control errors, induction zones that miss the pan and weak gas igniters. The technician confirms the cause on the visit and quotes the part. Write the code down before it clears and send it with the request.

Check the warranty before you pay

The washer manuals we read give the whole machine 1 year parts and labour and the Digital Inverter Motor a 10-year parts-only term. After the first year, labour is yours to pay. The warranty excludes delivery and installation, misuse and unauthorized parts. Terms differ by model. Find your model plate, your purchase date and your manual, and tell the company on the call. If your model is within the period, ask whether they handle warranty repairs. The warranty and recall page lists what to check.

What drives the price

One Ottawa firm puts typical totals at $210–$460 for a washer, $200–$420 for an electric dryer, $240–$510 for a dishwasher and $220–$480 for the fridge jobs above, parts and labour, with gas dryers and ranges higher at $280–$520 and $280–$560. It prices genuine Samsung parts 15% to 35% above aftermarket ones. Control boards and built-in cases sit at the high end of each band. Ask the company which part type it quotes. Your company’s figure comes once it has seen the machine. Part by part: appliance repair cost.

Gas Samsung appliances

Samsung sells gas dryers, ranges and cooktops in Canada. In Ontario, the gas side of any of them is work for a TSSA gas certificate holder. Tick gas on the form. A gas smell comes before any repair: leave, then call Enbridge Gas from outside.

Repair or replace

Ottawa price guides commonly set the replace line at half the cost of a comparable new appliance. B&M adds age: a Samsung under five is nearly always worth the repair, while a ten-plus-year-old one earns a repair only if the part costs below roughly 30% of a new machine. Work from the written quote. See repair or replace.

Who works on your Samsung

An independent repair company, one per request, picked by the area you live in. It is unaffiliated with Samsung, so a repair still under the maker’s warranty may belong with Samsung’s own authorized service. The Desk passes the request on and sets no prices.

Questions to ask the company

  1. Do you work on Samsung, and on this model?
  2. Can you read the code on my display, and what does it point to on this model?
  3. Is the part an original Samsung part, and is it on the truck?
  4. If my model is under a Samsung warranty, do you do warranty repairs or only paid ones?
  5. Does your Samsung call-out fee come off the repair bill?

Have this ready for the call

  • The Samsung plate: inside the door rim on a washer, on a side wall inside a fridge. Photograph it.
  • The code, such as 4E, 5E, UE or SE, photographed before it clears.
  • Your purchase receipt or the date you bought it, for the warranty.
  • Whether the appliance is gas or electric.
  • Room to reach the appliance, and where the shut-off valve or breaker is.

Questions people ask

What do the 4E and 5E codes on a Samsung washer mean?

One Ottawa firm reads 4E as a water supply problem, from a closed tap or kinked hose to a blocked inlet screen or failed valve, and 5E as a drain problem in the filter, hose or pump. Photograph the code and tell the company which one it is; they confirm on the visit.

Why does my Samsung washer keep showing UE on small loads?

One firm says UE or UB returning on small loads usually points to worn shock absorbers or a failing hall sensor on the motor; an overloaded drum is the less likely cause. A technician tests both. Mention how long it has been happening and whether the machine walks on spin.

My Samsung French-door fridge is cold in the freezer and warm in the fridge. Why?

On many French-door models the fridge section has its own evaporator and fan. When frost blocks that coil, or the fan stalls, the fridge warms while the freezer stays cold, one Ottawa firm says. The cause can also be a frozen air damper. Move food to a cooler and request the visit.

Does Samsung cover a washer motor in Canada?

For some washer models, Samsung Canada manuals print a 10-year parts-only term on the Digital Inverter Motor next to the 1 year parts and labour. The warranty excludes delivery, installation and misuse. Terms differ by model, so check your manual and purchase date, and tell the repair company.

Can my Samsung gas dryer or range be repaired by any company?

Only a TSSA gas certificate holder may repair it in Ontario. Ask the company for its TSSA registration number and look it up. At the first smell of gas, everyone out, then phone Enbridge Gas or 911.
